The future of the energy field is based on a mid-long term planning that promotes a clever use of the new technologies together with individual and institutional awareness and responsibility.
This planning should also lay down the mode of the transition towards a different model, able to face in an innovative way the interaction between consumption and production and to allow a consistent penetration of renewable energy and of energy efficiency into the industrial, civil and transport sector.
Changing the energy model means changing the society as it defines a new role for the individual, who is now positively and voluntarily lead to a more conscious and active attitude both as smart user and prosumer.
This text addresses the issue of Energy Communities in terms of their implementation with a basic certainty: the ability to build a road map for this transition. The contributions propose a technical scenario for a model of de-carbonization of energy, technologies and regulation, technical and economic assessments, innovations of electrical networks. The main technical and scientific Italian stakeholders have been involved in this review: national Universities, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, RSE (Italian Research on Energy System society), ENEA (Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development), ENSIEL (Italian
National Interuniversity Consortum for energy and electric systems). This way, AiCARR aims at contributing to the definition of a national energy strategy that consistently addresses the choices for the future of energy.
